Thunderstorm likely to lash 16 districts of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm accompanied with gusty surface wind and lightning is likely to occur in as many as 16 districts of Odisha today, the local meteorological centre predicted.

The districts likely to be affected are Gajapati, Ganjam, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Nayagarh, Puri, Koraput, Malkangiri and Rayagada.

“Latest doppler weather radar and satellite imageries indicate that thunderstorm accompanied with gusty surface wind and lightning likely to occur over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Nayagarh, Puri, Koraput, Malkangiri and Rayagada till 6 pm today,” said a bulletin issued by the local meteorological centre here.

People of the districts are advised to stay indoors or take shelter at safe places during the period.
