Thunderstorm warning issued for seven Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm accompanied with hail and gusty surface wind is likely to lash as many as seven districts of Odisha today between 3.15 pm and 7.15 pm, the local meteorological centre predicted.

The districts likely to be affected are Nuapada, Balangir, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam and Nayagarh.

“Latest doppler weather radar and satellite imageries indicate that thunderstorm accompanied with hail and gusty surface wind speed reaching 50 to 60 kmph likely to occur over the districts of Nuapada, Balangir, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam and Nayagarh between 3.15 pm and 7.15 pm,” a bulletin of the meteorological centre said.

The heat wave condition is likely to prevail over interior Odisha, it added.
