Bhubaneswar: Due to prevalent monsoon trough and a cyclonic circulation, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places in 18 districts of Odisha during the next 24 hours. India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre issued Yellow Warning for next five days.
In its evening bulletin, the IMD said, “A cyclonic circulation lies over northeast and adjoining Eastcentral Bay of Bengal between 4.5 & 7.6 Km above mean sea level tilting southwards with height. Under its influence a low pressure area is likely to form over North Bay of Bengal around 18th August 2023. The cyclonic circulation over southwest Bangladesh and neighbourhood at 3.1 Km above mean sea level has become less marked.”
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts Odisha.
The highest maximum (day) temperature of 35.9oC was recorded at Chandbali and the lowest minimum (night) temperature of 23.0oC was recorded at Phulbani and Nabarangpur in the plains of Odisha.

Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur in one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Malkangiri, Koraput and Nabarangpur.

Yellow Warning (Be Updated)- Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Bargarh, Boudh, Sonepur, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri and Koraput.
