Time table of annual HSC examination in Odisha announced

The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) Odisha, today announced the examination schedule of annual High School Certificate (HSC) examination—2016.

The examamination conducted by BSE would begin from February 22 and end on March 4.

“The examination schedule for the annual HSC examination has been declared today. The examination would begin from February 22 and end on March 4. This is the first time students appearing their HSC examinations in the state have fill up their forms online,” informed BSE president Dakshya Prasad Nanda here today.

The announcement came after the examination coordination committee met at its headquarters here today.

A record number of 6, 01, 389 students would take the Matriculation Examination-2016. While 5, 63, 220 students are regular students, 26, 023 students are ex-regular students. Last year, 5, 93, 112 students had appeared the annual examination.

Notably, the Board has introduced online filling up of the annual HSC examination forms for the first time in the state. The online process began from October 28 and ended on November 5 midnight.

The Board has decided to increase the remuneration of the invigilators from Rs 15 to Rs 25 per sitting, sources said.

Elaborate arrangements have been made for smooth conduct of the examination, Nanda said.

It may be mentioned that the Board this year has introduced State Institute of Open School (SIOS) for school drop-out students to give them an opportunity to clear the Matriculation examination. The students who have discontinued their education after seventh class would be eligible to appear for the examination under SIOS system.

The examination would be conducted twice a year and an applicant can attempt for a maximum of 10 times in five years to clear the examination.

According to sources, around 3200 students would appear the examination under this system this year.

“The state government has introduced SIOS for school dropouts. Anybody who is above seventh standard pass can enrol under this to take up the matriculation examination. There is no age bar in this system,” Nanda added.
