Bhubaneswar, Feb 28:

Dr Praveen Togadia, international working president of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) who has been barred from entering the trouble-torn Kandhamal district, today accused the Odisha government of double standards.

“When we try to implement welfare measures for tribal areas, where Hindus have suffered a lot, the Odisha Government bans us from visiting those places. But the same BJD government in the state allowed the European Union activists and missionaries to visit the very same place. This only goes to prove the double standards of the Naveen Patnaik government, which is anti-Hindu, anti-tribal and anti-poor,” the VHP leader said addressing media persons here this evening.

The government does not want activists like him, who have a concern towards Hindus in the state as well as in the country as a whole. “It does not want us to create mass awareness on health and sanitation, food and education among poor tribal people for whom welfare schemes of the state government are a dream,” Togadia added.

The firebrand VHP leader said the outfit is focused on the prosperity, dignity and safety of Hindus, which help them to live a peaceful life. But prosperity is a far cry for Hindus in the nation, he said.

The main cause for the loss of prosperity among Hindus, especially those who live in tribals area, is the gross pathy and neglect by the state government in providing various schemes in sectors like education, food, employment and farming notwithstanding its tall claims of doing wonders for them, Togadia pointed out.

VHP has focused on six action plans for welfare of the Hindus – providing food, education, medical services, employment to youth, awareness in farming and disease free society.

He also highlighted the spread of swine flu epidemic in the nation and appealed to the Central and State Governments to have sufficient medicines, vaccination, detection laboratory and isolation wards in hospitals to fight such kind of dreaded disease.
