Rourkela: As COVID-19 cases are escalating in western Odisha districts in second wave of the pandemic, top officials in the State Government today rushed to the Steel City Rourkela to take stock of situation here.

Accompanied by National Health Mission (NHM)  Director Shalini Pandit, Principal Advisor to Chief Minister and Western Odisha Development Council  (WODC) Chairman Asit Tripathy visited the COVID-hit Sundargarh district for review.

During the visit, Tripathy informed that 90 ICUs and 120 Oxygen beds will be added to various COVID hospitals in the district immediately. He also assured that two additional RTPCR machines will be supplied soon for early detection, isolation and treatment.

The high level team visited Hi-Tech COVID Hospital in Rourkela to review the COVID preparedness. Further, the officials inspected  the 24x7 Rourkela COVID Helpline and reviewed COVID Health facilities of the entire district.

Collector & DM Sundargarh Nikhil Paban Kumar, ADM Rourkela, Commissioner RMC, CDMO Sundargarh, Director RGH, SP Rourkela and other senior officials of the district were present during the visit.
