Top woman Maoist leader Debe Padiami alias Sandhya surrendered to the police here today.

According to reports, Sandhya, wife of top Maoist leader Tela Anil Kumar alias Chandu, surrendered before the southwestern IG and Koraput SP.

Sandhya was involved in a number of violent acts including the loot of arms from the Koraput armoury, R Udayagiri jail break and attack on the CRPF camp at Damanjodi, police said.

She was carrying a cash award of Rs 5 lakh on her head.

Prior to her surrender, she was the member of Malkangiri-Koraput Divisional Committee and presently heading the Gupteswar Maoist wing in Koraput district.
