Tortured housewife seeks police help

Manisha Rout, a resident of Gandarpur under Nandankanan police limits today sought police intervention to protect her against her husband who has been harassing her for quite some time..

Mainsha who lodged  a complaint with the Mahila police station here on Friday evening, for the second time, said she needed police help in getting justice.Rape attempt

She said she got married to Ranjit Rout of Rout Sahi under Laxmisagar police limits in July 2012.

“We had a happy conjugal life until a few months ago when I found out my husband was cheating on me and having an affair with a woman,” Manisha said, adding, she incurred her husband’s fury when  she confronted him on this.

“That was the beginning of’my woes”, she said, adding, ” my  husband used to come home drunk and beat me  up mercilessly” as she showed the marks of injury on her body.

“The daily torture was beyond tolerance levels and that forced me to leave my husband’s place and seek police support on January 3. But the police let him off after getting an assurance from him that he will not trouble me any further,” she said.

Manisha said her husband went back on his words and thrashed her black and blue on Thursday and snatched away her ornaments.

” I want the police to arrest my husband,” Manisha said.

“My daughter has lodged the complaint against her husband for the second time in 10 days and wants him arrested and punished as soon as possible, ” the victim’s mother Renubala Senapati said.
