Toy Train ride at Odisha’s Nandankanan to resume from today; Know timings

Bhubaneswar: The Toy Train ride facility at the Nandankanan Zoological Park here, which was suspended after a fire mishap, will resume from today.

A total of six trips will be available in a day between 10 am and 4 pm. The timings for commencement of the six trips are 10 am, 11 am, 12 noon, 2 pm, 3 pm and 4 pm.

A maximum of 72 visitors will be allowed in a single trip of the toy train ride.

Tickets for the same will issued 30 minutes prior to the ride.

Notably, the ride facility was suspended after the toy train caught fire on October 15. Around 60 visitors onboard the toy train had a narrow escape.

The fire mishap took place when the toy train carrying the visitors was in motion. Short circuit in the engine led to the accident, following which the toy train stopped moving.

The visitors escaped unhurt as they alighted from the toy train as soon as smoke started emanating from the engine.

Toy train ride facility at the zoo had commenced on October 8, after a gap of several years. It has four bogies with capacity for 74 passengers. Of those, two seats are reserved for differently-abled passengers.

The toy train project set up at a cost of Rs 3.05 crore was inaugurated by Forest and Environment Minister Bikram Keshari Arukha on the premises of the zoo on October 8 on the occasion of the State-level 67th wildlife week.
