Trade unions refuse to call off September 2 strike

New Delhi, Aug 27:

The central trade unions have refused to call off their countrywide strike on September 2 against labour reforms after a fresh meeting on Thursday with the group of ministers headed by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley remained inconclusive.

All India Trade Union Congress Secretary D. L. Sachdev said after the meeting that there was no consensus and “the call for the strike still stands”.

All trade unions will meet on Friday to chalk out their future course of action, he said.

The central trade unions had given a call of strike on September 2 to protest against the proposed labour reforms.

The group of ministers had met with the trade union leaders on Wednesday to break the logjam on their 12-point charter of demands. The meeting had failed to make any headway. (IANS)
