Train robber nabbed; 20 tolas gold ornaments recovered

Rourkela, Aug 5:

Government Railway Police (GRP) at Rourkela in Odisha’s Sundargarh district today nabbed a train robber and recovered 20 tolas of stolen gold ornaments from his possession, Satyajit Nayak, SP, GRP, Rourkela said.

The accused, identified as Mohammad Abbas, hails from Rourkela, he added.

It may be mentioned here that one Sureshbabu Gupta of Kolkata had lodged a complaint with the GRP police station at Rourkela on June 13 that 20 tolas of gold ornaments were stolen from him at the Rourkela railway station while he was travelling in the Ahmadabad-Howrah train.

Gupta had mentioned in his complaint that he was carrying the gold ornaments for a relative’s marriage.

The GRP has also arrested a jeweler Manik Lal on charges of buying stolen ornaments from the accused, GRP sources revealed.
