Treated by quack, two siblings die in Odisha’s Nabarangpur

In a shocking incident, two members of a family died on Sunday after being allegedly treated by a traditional healer and later by a quack in Nabarangpur district in Odisha while the condition of two other members of the family was stated to be critical.

The deceased have been identified as Maniram Gouda (15) and Goutam Gouda (18), son of Rajmahal Gouda of Silati village under Umerkote block in the district.

Other two members of Rajmahal’s family– wife Sanmati and son Ravi– were rushed to Umerkote Community Health Centre (CHC) yesterday. Ravi was later shifted to District Headquarters Hospital as his condition deteriorated.

According to reports, these four members of the family were suffering from fever for last 15 days. Initially, they went to a traditional healer and later to a local quack identified as Manoj. However, their condition did not improve even after treatment for four days.

Maniram and his brother Goutam breathed their last in a span of half-an-hour.
