While shops and business establishments remained closed, vehicular movement came to a grinding halt due to the bandh.

The tribal body has demanded a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to the family of the deceased. It alleged that that state government has failed to curb Japanese Encephalitis even as the disease broke out in the district two months ago.

The Mahasangh would stage a hartal in front of the district Collector’s office tomorrow protesting the deaths of kids due to the vector-borne disese. They would also submit a memorandum to the official.

Notably, Japanese Encephalitis has so far claimed lives of 97 children in the district.
