Odisha tribal girls who left hostel brought back by police

Odisha Sun Times Bureau
Gajapati, Feb 6:

As many as 64 tribal girl students of Mohana Government High School in Odisha’s Gajapati district, who had left the hostel alleging harassment by warden, were brought back from Ladruma forest by police today.

According to reports, the warden, identified as Ranjita Sualasingh, had allegedly abused and harassed the inmates of the hostel after they didn’t adhere to the former’s order of not going to watch Saraswati Puja in the locality recently.

The inmates had then reported the matter to the school authorities. However, instead of taking action against Sualsingh, the authorities had asked her to go on leave.

Protesting the incident, the girls vacated the hostel last night.

Besides, they have alleged poor quality food being provided to them in the hostel.

On the other hand, the parents of the students blocked the Berhampur-Rayagada road near the hostel demanding ouster of the warden.
