Trouble mounts: This Odisha COVID-19 patient was running tiffin centre

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government’s awareness regarding lockdown guidelines seemingly had no impact on a 55-year-old man of Birajapur village under Dasarathpur block in Jajpur district as the person, who tested positive for COVID-19 on May 1, had opened a tiffin centre in his village.

Threat of community transmission in the locality might loom following the irresponsible act of the man, who is COVID-19 patient no. 146 of Odisha.

As per official sources, he had travelled from Kolkata by train and reached Jajpur-Keonjhar Road railway station on March 21. He then travelled to Jajpur town along with 11 other co-passengers in a hired vehicle and reached home by foot.

He stayed indoors since then but frequently went to grocery and vegetable shops in his village till May 1. He also opened a tiffin centre in his village from March 25 to April 5. He has been admitted to Tata COVID Hospital at Kalinga Nagar in the district, sources added.
