Truck carrying 1000 kg explosive substances from Odisha to WB seized; 2 arrested

Balasore: In a major crackdown, the West Bengal STF seized explosive substances weighing around 1000 kg from a truck, which was en-route to West Bengal from Odisha, at BT Road under Chitpur police station in the neighbouring State late on Friday night.

The STF also arrested two persons of Balasore district in this connection.

The arrested duo identified as driver Indrajit Bhui (25) of and Khalashi Padmolochon Dey (31) of Melak village under Basta police station in Balasore district will be produced before Bankshall Court today.

Acting on a tip-off, the STF intercepted the truck at the northern slope of Tala bridge at BT Road at around 12.20 AM and recovered 27 gunny bags containing 1000 kg explosive substances (potassium nitrate) from the truck. The vehicle was going towards North 24 Parganas, sources said.
