Truck hits bike; woman killed in Odisha’s Kalahandi

One woman was killed and a person sustained injuries when a bike on which they were traveling was hit by a truck at Chhatikuda Bangala Chhak in Odisha’s Kalahandi district this morning.

The deceased and the injured were identified as residents of Lanjigarh Block, sources said.

While the woman died on the spot after the accident, the bike rider was grievously injured and admitted to the district headquarters hospital (DHH).

Tension gripped the spot following the incident as irate locals staged road blockade on NH-16 here demanding compensation for the family members of the woman. Vehicular movement on Berhampur-Lanjigarh route was disrupted for a while due to the blockade.
