Truck set on fire post student’s death in accident in Odisha’s Nayagarh

Nayagarh: Tension gripped Gadabanikilo village in Ranpur area of Odisha’s Nayagarh district today as locals set a mini truck on fire after it hit a class-VI school student killing him on the spot.

According to reports, Smruti Ranjan Behera (9), a student of Gadabanikilo UGME school, was hit by a stone-laden mini truck while he was on the way to school riding a bicycle which led to his death.

Irate locals then torched the vehicle and staged road blockade at Mausi Maa Chhak here demanding Rs 10 lakh compensation for the family of the deceased, widening of road in the village and arrest of the truck driver.

Till last reports came in, tension still prevailed in the area though police and district administrative officials reached the spot.
