The All Odisha Truck Owners’ Association today threatened to go on an indefinite strike from tomorrow if they do not get a written assurance from the state government on their 7-point charter of demands immediately.

The Association’s secretary Rabi Satpathy made the announcement after meeting the Commerce and Transport minister Subrat Tarai here today.

A delegation of the Association had also met Tarai on December 30 to discuss the issue of fare hike and its 7-point charter of demands and had then threatened to go on indefinite strike from January 15 if the government failed to meet their demands.

About 1, 30,000 trucks would stay off the road during the strike, the secretary informed.
