Tusker tramples former sarpanch to death in Odisha’s Sundargarh

Sundargarh: In a tragic incident, a tusker crushed a person to death at Kacharu village in Kuarmunda block of Odisha’s Sundargarh district this morning.

The deceased has been identified as Ranka Oram (48), former sarpanch of Kacharu panchayat.

According to reports, the animal attacked Oram while locals were trying to disperse a herd of elephants as they had strayed into Harpali village.

The pachyderm trampled Oram killing him on the spot. On being informed, Forest Department officials reached the spot and seized the body for post-mortem.
