Two arrested in Odisha capital for land fraud

Bhubaneswar, Mar 18:

The Commissionerate police today arrested two persons in connection with a case of fraudulent land deal.

Nayapalli police said acting on a complaint lodged by Chandrasekhar of IRC village, they arrested Debabrata Tripathy (54) of Khurda district and Anil Kumar Roy (39) of Puri district in connection to the fraud in the city.

Chandrasekhar had alleged that the duo had taken money from him to provide a plot but they did not transfer the land to him despite repeated calls.

“Debabrata and Anil swindled about Rs 43 lakh by assuring people that they will provide them land,” the police said.

Twin city police commissioner R P Sharma said anyone found guilty of land fraud would be punished.
