Two engineering students meet watery grave in Odisha river

In a tragic incident, two students of a private engineering college today drowned in Birupa river near Haveli village in Odisha’s Kendrapara distirct.

The final year students had gone to the river to take a bath this morning when they were trapped in the river current following which they drowned in the river.

Fire brigade staff along with local villagers launched a search operation to rescue the missing students. However, their bodies were fished out after frantic efforts.

The deceased have been identified as Diptiman Jena (22) of Nadipada village and Biswa Ranjan Pati (22) of Indupur. Both hail from Kendrapara district.

It may be recalled that three youth had drowned in Birupa river near Nikirai village on March 18 while they were taking bath. This is the second such incident in a month.
