Two extortionists nabbed in Odisha

Sundargarh, May 22: 

Police today arrested two members of an anti-social outfit in Odisha’s Sundargarh district for demanding ransom from two local businessmen and forwarded them to court.

ArrestPolice seized a country made pistol, a live cartridge, two motorcycles, three cell phones and five posters from their possession.

According to A Rana, Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Biramitrapur, the arrested, identified as Sukdeb Pradhan (40) and Agetar Singh (32) of Biramitrapur area of  Sundargarh district and members of Jharkhand Badshah, a gang of extortionists, on April 24 had demanded Rs 10 lakh extortion money each from two brothers who own a brick kiln unit at Kadarkela village under Hatibari police station limits.

Though the two brothers had given them a cash of Rs 25,000 to them, they were asked to pay the rest amount.

Panicked by their repeated threatening, the two brothers later lodged a complaint with the Hatibari Police on May 2.

Acting on the complaint, the police today arrested Sukdeb and Agetar after tracking their call.

The duo was later forwarded to the court.
