Two forced to wear garland of shoes, faeces poured over sorcery suspicion in Odisha

Nabarangpur: Two persons at a remote village were garlanded with shoes and faeces poured on them for allegedly practicing sorcery in tribal district here.

The incident was reported in Dhepaguda village under Chandahandi police limits on September 18.

According to reports, around 16 persons forced Madhab Panda and Pratap Nayak to parade at the village after pouring faeces on them and forcing them to wear garland of shoes suspecting them as sorcerers.

One of the victims Madhab lodged a written complaint with Chandahandi police following which a case was registered against 16 persons in the village.

The accused were Jagatram Nayak, Purandhar Majhi, Dikachan Majhi, Debasar Nayak, Pustak Nayak, Arjun Nayak, Kunu Pota, Manu Sori, Nadab Panda, Deba Panda, Lakhidhar Panda, Bidyadhar Panda, Daya Panda, Durmila Panda, Lalita Panda and Nilendri Panda, said investigating officer in the case Abhay Pradhan.
