Two held while fleeing with looted cash

Bhubaneswar, Aug 27:

Commissionerate Police today arrested two looters while they were trying to flee from near State Bank India (SBI) branch in Priyadarshini Market under Nayapalli police limits after snatching Rs 25,000 from a bank customer.

According to Nayapalli police sources, one Anand Chandra Bal had come to the bank to deposit the cash this afternoon. While he was filling the deposit form, the two looters decamped with Rs 25,000 from his back pocket and fled from the spot in an autorickshaw.

“After the loot, I followed the culprits with the help of an autorickshaw and managed to nab them with support from the passersby following a loud call. Later, I handed over the accused to the local police who arrested them,” said the victim.

The police said the identity of the two looters is yet to be confirmed, they are suspected to be from Bihar and had come to Bhubaneswar from Rourkela today. “We have registered a case and investigation is in progress to find out the criminal antecedents of the two accused,” said a police officer of Nayapalli police station.

Police has launched a manhunt to nab the auto driver who carried the accused persons.
