Two killed, four critical in knife attacks by youth in Odisha’s Malkangiri

Kalimela: Two persons were killed and four others critically injured when a youth attacked them with a knife in MPV-33 village under Kalimela police limits in Malkangiri district this evening.

As per reports, a village meeting was being held at around 9.30 pm to resolve a family dispute. Eyewitnesses said irate over a decision of the village meeting, the youth attacked six persons with a knife before anyone could comprehend what was happening. Two died on the spot while the four others sustained critical injuries.

Immediately the injured were rushed to the Kalimela Community Health Centre and later shifted to the Malkangiri District Headquarter Hospital. The deceased were identified as Madhavi Ray and Biswanath Ray.

After being informed, police reached the spot and overpowered the accused. The local administration also deployed adequate number of police to bring the situation under control.
