Two killed, one critical in lightning strikes in Odisha

Angul: In a tragic incident, at least two persons were killed and one was critically injured due to lightning strikes in Odisha’s Angul district today.

The deceased are identified as Santilata Pradhan and Baisakhi Pradhan of a family at Jarapada village under Derjang police limits in the district.

Sources said the lightning struck the duo while they were on their way to farmlands this afternoon. The two were died on the spot, sources added.

Another person of the same village, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in critical condition.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in the south and central districts and heavy rain in the west and coastal districts of Odisha in the next 24 hours.
