Two Maoists arrested in Odisha’s Malkangiri district

Two Maoists were arrested by Kalimela police and BSF personnel during a joint combing operation in Gomphakonda forest area in Odisha’s Malkangiri district yesterday.

The two arrested Maoists, identified as Buruda Padiami and Irma Kabasi, had joined the Maoist outfit in 2003, Malkangiri SDPO Sandeep Sampad informed.

The duo was involved in a series of crimes, including the murder of SPOs Basudev Khila and Bhimi Kawasi.

“Police had arrested the two Maoists in 2009. However, they were acquitted by the court due to lack of evidence. The duo had again joined the Maoist outfit after the release,” the SDPO said.

The interrogation of the two arrested is on and they would be forwarded to the court tomorrow, eh added.
