Two Maoists killed in encounter with security forces in Odisha’s Koraput

Official sources said the special operation group (SOG) was carrying out a combing operation in the area when the ultras opened fire

Koraput: Two Maoists were reportedly killed in an exchange of fire with security forces in a forest of Koraput district in Odisha here today. The incident was reported from Malipadar jungle under Gupteswar panchayat of Boipariguda block in the district.

Official sources said the special operation group (SOG) was carrying out a combing operation in the area when the ultras opened fire. The security forces retaliated and in the fire exchange that followed, two Maoists were killed.

Koraput SP Varun Guntupalli confirmed the death of two ultras. He said since there is no network in the area, we are unable to coordinate with our personnel there. The search operation is still underway and further information is awaited.
