Two minors arrested for stealing bikes in Odisha

Two minor boys were arrested and forwarded to juvenile court in Odisha’s Rourkela today for allegedly stealing two bikes and a scooter.

A Hero Honda Splendor bike (Regd No OR-09D-8255) was stolen from Jhirpani Church ground on February 14, 2014 and a complaint was lodged at Jhirpani police station by the owner of this bike Silas Soren.

Similarly on March 2, a Passion Pro bike (Regd No OD-14B-4362) of Amiya Ranjan Panda was stolen near Jagda radio station and on February 17 a Passion Pro bike (Regd No.OR-22E-2451) of Gyana Ranjan Nayak was stolen from AB Chowk at Koel Nagar.  Both the owners of these bikes had lodged their FIRs in Jhirpani police station.

Locals present on the spot, had noticed a boy named ‘Thekua’ alias Soubhagya Mallick stealing Gyana’s Passion Pro on February 17.

The culprit is still at large following the incident and the subsequent police investigation.

Jhirpani police had also received complaint regarding the theft of a Hero Pleasure scooter. Acting on the complaint, Jhirpani police had started searching to recover the stolen vehicles.

The cops recovered all four stolen vehicle from different places today and also recovered a Bajaj Pulsar bike bearing Andhra Pradesh registration number from a different place. The police are yet to identify the owner of this vehicle.

They also arrested two 15 year old boys, resident of GL Chowk of Jhirpani for allegedly stealing the Hero Honda Splendor bike (No.OR-09D-8255), the Passion Pro (No.OD-14B-4362) & another Hero Pleasure scooter.

According to police, both the minor boys study in St. Mary School at Jagda and were stealing bikes to use it for doing stunts. They had thrown the pleasure scooter in an isolated place after getting to know that stunts can’t be performed on that vehicle.

Both the accused have been forwarded to juvenile court.

“Two minor boys have been arrested and forwarded to juvenile court for stealing three vehicles. Thekua alias Subhagya Mallick who had stolen the bike of Gyana Ranjan Nayak is still at large. We will arrest him soon. The owner of Bajaj Pulsar bike bearing Andhra Pradesh registration number is yet to be identified,” said BN Sahoo, Sub Inspector of Jhirpani police station.
