Commissionerate Police today rescued two class VIII students of an English medium school in the Odisha capital, who had gone missing since September 14, from the Sikharchandi hillock on th city outskirts.
Police traced the missing students - identified as Subhendu Shankar Mund (13) and Rudra Pratap Mohanty (13) - of Xavier International School in the city while they were sleeping on the floor of the temple loacted on the Sikharchandi hillock
Police were alerted by the local,s who had identified the students following media coverage of the incident.
Parents of the missing students had lodged a complaint with local police station here on September 16.
Police sources said the students had moved to Chennai and then to Konark in Odisha before they reached the Sikharchandi hillock here.
The actual reason of their moving to these places is yet to ascertained by the police.
“We have handed over the missing students to their parents. Investigation is on to ascertain what forced the students to move out of their homes,” Devi Shankar Pratap, Inspector-in-charge (IIC) of Chandrasekharpur police station said.
