Two quintal cannabis seized from train in Odisha’s Cuttack

Cuttack: District Excise Squad last night seized around two quintals of cannabis from Puri-Patna Express train at Cuttack Railway Station and arrested a person in this connection.

Acting on a tip-off about the contraband being carried by Manas Ranjan of Jagatsinghpur in the train, the Excise Squad conducted searches inside the train at the station around 1 am and seized the cannabis from bags of the accused.

The narcotic was being smuggled from Patna to Gandhipalli area in Cuttack, sources said. The estimated cost of the seized cannabis is Rs 2 lakh. Further investigation into the matter is underway to ascertain possible involvement of racket.
