Two suspected dacoits nabbed in Odisha

The Commissionerate Police (CP) in Odisha today arrested two persons from the Old Town area here for allegedly plotting to commit crime and seized one country made pistol, hard cash and two motor cycles from their possession.dacoits nabbed

The accused, identified as Ranjit Swain (30) and Lipu Panda (30), hail from Pipili in Puri district but presently stay in the Old Town area.

They were forwarded to a local court here today.

According to the Lingaraj police, the Quick Action Team (QAT) of CP along with the local police, conducted a raid this evening based on a tip off and nabbed Swain and Panda, who were planning to commit dacoity.

The duo has many cases pending against them in different police stations in the city and in Puri district. They were also involved in a case of firing case under the Pipili police station area in which the duo had attacked a block chairman, police said.

“We have arrested the accused and seized one pistol and two motor cycles from their possession. Futher investigation is in progress to ascertain other persons’ involvement in their gang,” said the police.
