According to reports, 108 ambulance driver and a call centre employee have been suspended from their jobs over the incident.

The action comes after National Health Mission (NHM) Director Shalini Pandit instructed to place the duo under suspension.

Notably, the ambulance driver reportedly refused to carry the body of a four-year-old boy from Tubuka village under Krushnachandrapur block who died on Friday night while on the way to Chhatrapur hospital in the ambulance.

The driver allegedly dropped them mid-way despite requests from the bereaved family members of the minor. The father of the deceased had to carry the body to his village around 20-25 km away from the place where he was dropped.

The incident created furore in the area resulting in road blockade yesterday demanding action against the driver. The irate locals blocked the Chari Chhaka in Krushnaprasad area for hours affecting the vehicular movement.
