The incident has happened at Kanagoda area under Kalimela police limits in the district. The deceased were identified as Rama Madakami and Rama Madhi.

A group of around 15-20 armed rebels stormed into the village and took away the duo from their houses last night. Their bullet-riddled bodies were spotted on the outskirts of the village this morning.

A hand written note on a letterhead of CPI (Maoists) was recovered from near the site in which it was mentioned that the two have been punished for acting as police informers and providing support in anti-Maoist drive, police informed.

“The bodies of the two villagers have been recovered. A hand written message was found near the bodies in which they have mentioned that the duo have been killed for helping the Maoist supporters surrender to the police,” Malkangiri SP Mitrabhanu Mohapatra said.

Meanwhile, combing and patrolling has been intensified in the area to nab the culprits.

It may be recalled that Maoists had gunned down a villager—Arjun Khara—of Kandhaguda village on October 3 creating panic in the area.
