Two women, girl child electrocuted in Odisha’s Jajpur

In a tragic incident, two women and a baby girl were electrocuted after coming contact with an 11 KV live wire at Patabali village under Tamka police limit of Jajpur district in Odisha yesterday evening.

The deceased were identified as Pratima Manjari Behera (55), her daughter Pravati Nalini Behera (30) and six-year-old girl child Pravasini Mohanta, daughter of Bapi Mohanta of Patabali village.

While Pravati and Pravasini were charged to death on the spot, Pratima was burnt after coming contact with the live wire.

According to report, the tragic incident took place at around 5 pm when a branch of a Sal tree fell on an 11 KV live wire, which snapped on Pravasini and Pravati outside the house. While Pratima tried to save them, she was charged after coming contact with the live wire.

The girl child Pravasini was rushed to Danagadi hospital where she was declared dead.

Following the incident, the irate locals staged road blockade on Daitari-Chandikhol road alleging the negligence of electricity department. Placing the corpse on the road, they demanded compensation for the kins of the victims. Tamka police station IIC Dropaudi Das along with police force reached the spot and convinced the mob.
