Unable to refund money, chit fund agent commits suicide

Kendrapara, Sep 23:

A woman, who acted as an agent for a chit fund company, hanged herself to death at a village in Kendrapara district after failing to refund depositors’ money, police said on Monday.

The 25-year-old agent, Mirarani Samal, hanged herself from a ceiling fan on Sunday at her home in Narasinghpur village. The information was provided by Marshaghai Sub Divisional Police Officer, Nrusingha Charan Swain.

The agent was unable to meet the demands of depositors wanting their money back, he said. The company she worked for closed shop two months ago. (PTI)
