Unidentified woman steals newborn from hospital in Odisha

Balangir: In a shocking incident, an unknown woman allegedly stole a four-day-old baby boy from a hospital in Patnagarh here in the district today.

The incident occurred in broad daylight at the Patnagarh Sub Divisional Hospital in presence of the newborn’s mother.

According to reports, a woman from Telanpali area had delivered a baby boy at the state-run hospital on Sunday. The accused woman visited her at the hospital, held the baby on her lap with affection and fled from the spot.

“The woman came to me, lifted my baby with her arm and went away with my baby giving me Rs 100,” said the victim.

When the newborn’s mother started shouting, the accused had already disappeared from the hospital.
