Union ministers pay tribute to freedom fighters of Odisha

Sambalpur/ Dhenkanal, Aug 17: 

Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram and Consumer Affairs Minister Chhotu Ram Chaudhary today paid floral tributes to freedom fighters of Odisha Veer Surendra Sai and Baji Rout as part of BJP’s ‘Yaad Karo Kurbani’ campaign in the state.

While Oram along with national BJP Secretary Suresh Pujari visited Khinda, the birth place of Veer Surendra Sai, as part of the Tiranga Yatra of the party, Chaudhary visited the birthplace of freedom fighter Baji Rout at his native Nilakanthapur village in Bhuban block of Dhenkanal district.

“During the third #Tirangayatra, paid floral tributes to Veer Surendra Sai, Birsa Munda & Mahatma Gandhi ji,” tweeted Oram and shared a picture of the third day of Tiranga Yatra from Rengali to Khinda.

Hundreds of party workers and local leaders visited the villages along with the leaders in both places.

It may be mentioned here that under the campaign, Union Telecommunications Minister Manoj Sinha will visit Harachandi Sahi in Puri town on August 20. The place is famous as the birth place of legendary fighter Chakhi Khuntia – also known as Chandan Hajuri – who took part in Indian Rebellion of 1857.

The campaign, organized by the ruling party in the Center to remember the freedom fighters across the country, started on August 9 and will continue till August 23.
