Unsafe Smart City! Odisha man thrashed for protesting eve-teasing of wife

Bhubaneswar: The incident of a man being beaten up for protesting anti-socials passing lewd remarks on his wife late yesterday night in Odisha capital would surely put the denizens to shame.

As per reports, a husband-wife duo was returning from a marriage reception party at around 11.30 pm last night while three motorcycle-borne miscreants tailed them near Siripur Square under Khandagiri police limits here.

After approaching near the car, the trio allegedly passed objectionable comments and misbehaved with the woman. When the victim’s husband protested the incident, the goons beat him up and also broke the window pane.

The harassed couple filed a complaint with the Khandagiri Police after which one person has been arrested today while the hunt for other accused is on.

Based on CCTV footage, we have arrested on person. Search is on to nab other accused, a police official said.
