Utkal Varsity, OUAT students get Posco scholarship

POSCO T J Park Foundation Scholarships were conferred on meritorious students of Utkal University & Odisha University of Agriculture & Technology (OUAT), at a special award giving ceremony in both the Universities here in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively. The awards are part of the company’s efforts to encourage and inspire young talented students for higher studies

The students from Utkal University, who have been awarded POSCO TJ Park Foundation Scholarships this year included Monali Das, Swayamsidha Mishra, Pradeep Kumar Muduli, Debasish Das, Sunita Muduli and Rashmirekha Patra.

From OUAT, Annapurna Moharana, Sushri Bijayini Mansingh, Shital Mohanty and Bibhudutta Samanta Kumar Panda received the POSCO TJ Park Foundation Scholarship 2013-14.

POSCO INDIA DMD (Deputy Managing Director) Ryu Ho-Chan, Prof. P K Sahoo, Vice Chancellor, Utkal University, Dr. DS Pattanaik, Director of Students Welfare (DSW), UU and Prof. PK Mishra, Chairman, P.G. Council, UU graced the occasion.

Addressing the meritorious students, POSCO INDIA DMD Mr. Ryu Ho-Chan said; “India is recognized worldwide for its huge pool of intellectual manpower. I strongly believe that if proper opportunity is given to these sprouting leaders, then India will achieve even higher heights in the years to come.”

Briefing on the proposed integrated steel project in Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha, Ryu said “This year, POSCO has been able to achieve significant progress in its Odisha ISP Project. We have also commenced operations of a high-quality automotive steel mill in Maharashtra last year.”

“POSCO believes in growing with the local community. The proposed integrated steel plant will not only develop the economy and generate huge employment opportunities, but it will also result in the overall betterment of the society in every perspective. And budding talents like you play a pivotal role in this endeavour,” added the POSCO INDIA DMD.

POSCO TJ Park Foundation has been rewarding individuals and organizations that have made extraordinary contributions in the categories of science, education and community development & philanthropy. It may be noted that since the announcement of the proposed POSCO India project, the award instituted by POSCO TJ Park Foundation is being distributed every academic year in Odisha and New Delhi.

Earlier, POSCO T J Park Foundation Scholarship award was also conferred to 10 meritorious students, 5 each from KIIT & BPUT this year.
