Utpanna Ekadashi Vrat is observed on the ekadashi (11th day) of the Krishna Paksha during the Margashirsha month of the Hindu calendar.

Those devotees who keep the ekadashi vrat should start with Utpanna Ekadashi. The day celebrates the victory of Lord Vishnu over a demon named ‘Murasura’.

It is also believed that birth of Ekadashi Mata took place on Utpanna Ekadashi.

The deities worshipped on Utpanna Ekadashi are Lord Vishnu and Mata Ekadashi.

Utpanna Ekadashi Date: November 30 (Tuesday).

Ekadashi Tithi Begins – 04:13 AM on Nov 30, 2021.

Ekadashi Tithi Ends – 02:13 AM on Dec 01, 2021.

Parana Time – 07:34 AM to 09:02 AM on December 1, 2021.

Parana means breaking the fast.

Utpanna Ekadashi Rituals:

Utpanna Ekadashi fast/vrat starts from the dawn of the ekadashi and concludes with the sunrise of dwadashi.

Devotees don’t consume rice, all forms of pulses and grains during the fast.

They get up before sunrise and take bath.

Lord Krishna is worshipped on this day during the Brahma Muhurat.

After morning rituals, devotees worship Mata Ekadashi and God Vishnu.

Chanting Vedic mantra is considered auspicious on Utpanna Ekadashi.

Devotees also make donations to brahmins, poor and needy on this day.

Donations can be in the form of food, money, clothes or other essentials items.

Utpanna Ekadashi Significance:

It is believed that observer of Utpanna Ekadashi vrat is liberated from his/ her sins and attains salvation.

The fast kept on Utpanna Ekadashi is equal to fasting for the three main deities of Hinduism– Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh.
