V-day protest: Over 30 Kalinga Sena activists detained in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: Protest against Valentine’s Day celebration was foiled in Odisha capital today as the Twin City Commissionerate Police arrested more than 30 activists of the Kalinga Sena, a fringe outfit which had threatened of raiding parks and malls in the city to stop couples from celebrating the day.

The activists were detained from near the office of the Kalinga Sena located at Baramunda here while they were gearing up to oppose the celebrations.

On the other hand, the main gate of Jayadev Vatika, a recreation centre near Khandagiri here, was found locked today in view of the possibility of attack on couples at the spot. Other major parks in the city also wore a deserted look with couples preferring not to visit parks in order to avoid trouble by fringe outfits.

Policemen were deployed at various shopping malls and some other public places in the city to prevent untoward incidents.
