Bhubaneswar: People administered with COVID-19 vaccine are also likely to get infected with the deadly virus. However, the vaccine will prevent the patients from any kind of serious complication, cautioned Odisha Health and Family Welfare Director Bijay Panigrahi.
Speaking to media, the senior health official today said, “There is possibility that people can contract the virus even after getting vaccinated. But the vaccine will prevent the patients from the risk of hospitalisation and death.”
Regarding shortage of vaccines in the state, Panigrahi said the immunization drive was halted in two districts–Sonepur and Koraput yesterday.
“Currently, 3.2 lakh Covishield and 1 lakh Covaxin vaccines are in stock, which will exhaust today. We hope the Centre will supply adequate vaccines to the state soon,” he added.
