Reported by Santosh Jagdev

Bhubaneswar, Oct 5:

Some unidentified miscreants on Friday night broke into the Geography department at Vani Vihar and decamped with computer processors, laptops and other electronic appliances.

The incident came to light when a peon on Saturday morning found the locks on the rooms of the departmental head and professors, broken.

According to sources, miscreants entered into the department after breaking the asbestos roof atop the terrace on the first floor of a building located close to the department.

“Miscreants have ransacked four chambers of professors of the department in search of valuables. Computer chips, laptops and electronic goods are missing. It is suspected that the burglars may have come from the nearby slum,” said the head of the Geography Department Dr Krushna Chandra Rath.

Acting on the complaint lodged by the university authorities, Saheed Nagar police have started investigation into the matter.
