Vedanta Limited felicitates India’s first K-Pop star Sriya Lenka

Jharsuguda: On the eve of World Music Day, India’s first K-Pop star and Jharsuguda’s pride, Sriya Lenka, was felicitated by Vedanta Limited here yesterday. On behalf of the Company, Sunil Gupta, CEO felicitated the young K-Pop sensation at a function held on its plant premises.

Speaking on the occasion, Sunil Gupta said, “Odisha is a land of immense talent and Sriya is a testament to the vast young talent pool of artists nurtured across the State. Her noteworthy achievement has put Jharsuguda in the world map that will further encourage youth in this region to stride forward in pursuit of their dreams. At Vedanta, we have always endeavoured to promote such talents and as partners in progress of this State, we strive to ensure that more such success stories emerge from this region.”

Sriya made it to headlines after she became the first-ever K-pop star from India. The 18-year-old girl who has been chosen as the fifth member of the girl K-pop band ‘Blackswan’ was selected from a global audition held by South Korean Music Label DR Music Entertainment in an effort to add members to the globally acclaimed multi-national girl group Blackswan which already has K-pop idols from Brazil and Belgium apart from South Korea.
