During the hearing both the bail applicants and Crime Branch presented their arguments in writing before the bench comprising of Justice Sangam Kumar Sahu.

Sura Baba and his son had sought bail from the High Court in the case pertaining to land fraud in Chhatrapur in Ganjam district.

The applicants through their counsels have contended that they have been granted conditional bail in most of the cases pending against them while allegation against them of committing land fraud in Chhatrapur was totally baseless.

They alleged that the Chhatrapur land fraud case was deliberately slapped against them in order  to harass them after Crime Branch registered cases against them in connection with the Trahi Achyut Ashram incidents.

The petitioners further contended that the Crime Branch has no evidence against them.

Notably, a person had lodged a complaint against Sura Baba and his son at the Chhatrapur police station of having committed land fraud. Only after controversies regarding Trahi Achyut Ashram surfaced the Crime Branch registered an FIR against Sura Baba and his son in the Chhatrapur land fraud case.
