Veteran Odisha CPI leader Com. Ishwar Nayak passes away

Well-known CPI leader and revolutionary poet Com. Ishwar Nayak passed away at his home at Laida village in Odisha’s Sambalpur district on Thursday afternoon.

He was 70 and is survived his wife Pankajini and two sons Soshit and Lohit.

Nayak was undergoing treatment for his paralytic leg at a private hospital at Burla after he fell down in his bathroom some months ago.

He was  discharged from the hospital four days ago and staying at his  Laida home where he breathed his last.

Born in 1944, Nayak was the secretary of GM College Students’ Union. Later, inspired by top Communist leader Prasanna Panda, he joined the CPI.

He was the secretary of AISF Odisha unit, secretary of CPI Sambalpur District unit and president of Odisha Khet Mazdoor Sangh and Bidi Shramik Sangh.

Widely known as a revolutionary poet, Nayak’s poems have been published in a number of well-known Odia magazines.He was also the president of Odisha Lekhak Sammelan. He had played a vital role in the development of education in his area.

His last rites were performed at his village in the late evening.
