Veteran Odisha journalist succumbs to COVID-19

Rourkela: Veteran journalist Adwaita Prasad Biswal is no more. He died of COVID-19 while undergoing treatment at a hospital here today.

The 78-year-old Biswal breathed his last at the JP Hospital in Rourkela.

He was admitted to the JP Hospital a week ago after his condition deteriorated due to COVID infection. However, he lost the battle to the deadly virus.

He is survived by daughter Rosalin Biswal, who is the AGM of OPTCL, and son Siddharth Biswal. His wife Saroja Biswal had passed away four years ago.

Adwaita Biswal was the founder and editor of a weekly Odia newspaper ‘Shramika Malika’. Earlier, he was working for  Odia daily ‘Pragatibadi’ as the Correspondent in Sundargarh district.

The  profound journalist was also a poet and social worker. He was the President of Talcher Bimlagarh Rail Link Action Committee. He was also a key member of Rourkela Cultural Academy.
