Vigilance submits probe report on ex Odisha DGP in HC

The state Vigilance Directorate today submitted in a sealed cover its preliminary inquiry report on the FIR registered against former state DGP Prakash Mishra in the Odisha High Court. The court fixed the next date of hearing in the case for Thursday.

Prakash MishraOn February 19, the court had asked the Vigilance Director to submit the preliminary inquiry report on the basis of which it had registered an FIR against Mishra in a sealed cover with the court while conducting a hearing on a case filed by Mishra seeking quashing of the FIR registered against him by the Vigilance Directorate.

Notably, Vigilance Directorate had registered an FIR against Mishra following a departmental inquiry into the procurement of building materials during Mishra’s tenure as chairman of Odisha Police Housing and Welfare Corporation (OPHWC) between 2005 and 2009.

Mishra is facing the vigilance case for allegedly showing undue favours to some suppliers in 2006 thereby causing pecuniary loss to the state exchequer.

Mishra is now the Director General (DG) of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
